PARKER, Colo. — AdventHealth Parker is celebrating 22 years of caring for our community – and while the building has grown, one thing has remained beautifully consistent: the heart of the people inside it.
From its earliest days as a newly opened hospital with 58 beds to now with 179 beds, AdventHealth Parker has always been shaped by those who chose to build something special together.
Growing, together
As the Parker community has grown, so has the hospital. Over the years, AdventHealth Parker expanded its services; added new inpatient units, operating rooms, birth rooms, and specialty care – all while holding tightly to its sense of connection and inclusiveness.
“We may have grown, but our culture of inclusiveness and community has never changed,” Oncology Nurse Navigator, Karen Wilson shared. “When I walked in the doors and felt the warmth of those first employees, I knew this was the hospital I would retire from.”
For Mandy Stevenson, RN in Labor and Delivery, those early days were defined by collaboration.
Mandy delivered her youngest child at Parker in 2012.
“They took great care of me and my baby,” she said. “It solidified what I always knew to be true – we treat our patients like family.”
Built on culture
While the physical campus has evolved, many team members say it’s the culture that keeps them here.
“I remember wearing a yellow hard hat and walking up the stairs through plastic sheets to see what would become the NICU,” said Heather Lindeman, RN in the NICU. “But what really stands out is how much energy went into building a positive culture before we even opened.”
Today, the NICU has more than doubled in size – but Heather says the people are still what matter most.
“It’s the people that have kept me here since opening day.”
That sentiment is echoed across departments.
Moments that matter
👶 Welcoming new life
For 22 years, AdventHealth Parker has been honored to help welcome thousands of babies into the world, with 1,256 births last year alone – supporting families with compassionate, faith-based care every step of the way.
💙 Answering the call in critical moments
In 2019, AdventHealth Parker cared for Detective Dan Brite after he was critically injured in the line of duty. Dozens of caregivers worked together to provide life-saving trauma care, surrounding his family with skill, compassion, and hope during an unthinkable moment.
🎄 A community tradition of giving
For 14 years, AdventHealth Parker has partnered with Newday Adventist Church to host the beloved Christmas Store, helping families provide gifts for their loved ones. In 2024 alone, more than 1,100 people were served – a reminder that care extends far beyond our hospital walls.
Looking Ahead
Today, the campus continues to grow – including the new seven-story tower that will open its doors in 2027 and the Aurora Highlands OSED set to open later this year!
22 at heart
Twenty-two years later, AdventHealth Parker is still defined not by square footage or services alone, but by people who show up for one another and their community. If its history tells us anything, the best is yet to come!
