DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., January 23, 2017 On Jan. 17, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center named hospitalist Dr. Nelson Kazie as the physician of the quarter for the fourth quarter of 2016.
Hospitalists are physicians whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. These physicians work in the hospital, caring for inpatients, and can be more readily available to patients than a doctor who has their own office. By focusing on the care of hospitalized patients, a hospitalist has experience and expertise on the unique aspects of a patient's needs during a hospital stay.
Dr. Kazie is not just loved by his patients, but also by the wonderful nursing staff that surrounds him every day, said Ed Noseworthy, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center CEO. He was chosen for this award based on feedback from patients and family members, as well as a final vote by our own nursing staff.
Kazie earned his medical degree from University of Lagos College of Medicine in Nigeria and completed his residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York. Additionally, he is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
