Affiliation Will Support Health of Guests and Employees
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (April 8, 2016) – Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center has partnered with LEGOLAND® Florida Resort to support health care services for guests and employees at the Winter Haven vacation destination, both organizations announced today.
Under the terms of the agreement, which took effect March 1, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport, Fla., is now recognized as the resort’s Official Medical Partner and Dr. Craig Glaser is serving as its medical director. Additionally, Heart of Florida is recognized as a presenting partner of the two on-site First Aid Centers and Baby Care Center at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, including naming rights.
“LEGOLAND Florida Resort is known worldwide for its commitment to creating fun for kids and families,” said Glaser, who also serves as medical director of Polk County’s Urgent Care Cypress facility. “No one wants to be sick or hurt on vacation, but if the need arises, Heart of Florida has the expertise to help.”
Located just two miles from the resort on Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Urgent Care Cypress is an affiliated facility of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center that can diagnose and treat minor illnesses and injuries, including workplace injuries. LEGOLAND Florida Resort guests in need of medical attention beyond basic first aid will have the option to use an urgent care center such as Urgent Care Cypress. If they require a level of care provided by a hospital or emergency room, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center is ready to help. The services also are available to the resort’s employees, known as Model Citizens.
When the patient is a child, pediatricians from Nemours Children’s Hospital of Orlando are available at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center to care for newborns and children. Since Nemours Children’s Hospital focuses exclusively on pediatric care, Heart of Florida’s trained staff and Nemours’ expert pediatricians will work together to provide quality care.
As part of the agreement, Heart of Florida also will provide continuing medical education (CME) opportunities to EMTs at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, and other health education programs.
Since it opened in October 2011, LEGOLAND Florida Resort has expanded steadily with new and exciting attractions and guest amenities, including the recent addition of the themed LEGOLAND Hotel. Next year will see the debut of LEGO® NINJAGO® World, an immersive theme park land featuring a state-of-the-art attraction, and LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, a new type of vacation resort that will more than double on-site accommodations.
As more and more visitors are drawn to the resort and surrounding vacation experiences in Polk County, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center remains committed to meeting the needs of visitors if they require local medical services before returning home.
