At AdventHealth Winter Park Inpatient Rehab, healing often extends beyond the hospital stay.
Recently, former patient James Chonody returned to the hospital with a heartfelt gift for the rehabilitation team who cared for him. After recovering from brain surgery, James came back to personally thank the team with a painting he created for them, along with individual self-portraits of the caregivers who supported him during his recovery.
Painting is a meaningful outlet for James, and he said creating the artwork was his way of giving back.
“That’s how I give back to people who help me in life,” he shared.
For the rehabilitation team, the visit was a powerful reminder of the impact of their work and the connections formed along a patient’s healing journey.
“It is so wonderful for him to share his talent and come back and show the team how much their hard work paid off,” said Belinda Rieger, director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services at AdventHealth Winter Park. “It’s a full-circle moment.”
Moments like this reflect AdventHealth’s commitment to caring for the whole person - body, mind and spirit - and celebrating the relationships that grow through compassionate care.
