DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., December 21, 2018 –Every year, a variety of volunteers, staff, family members and church groups share their time and talents with AdventHealth Daytona Beach, formerly AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center, by knitting and crocheting prayer shawls and prayer blankets for patients.
“These beautiful prayer shawls and blankets are lovingly prepared with prayers poured over each stitch,” said Linda Koch, AdventHealth Daytona Beach ministry project coordinator. “These handmade gifts are made with the intention to remind each patient they are loved and in the thoughts of people who care. These gifts are a true example of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.”
More than 200 shawls and blankets were created for patients which were distributed on Christmas Day to patients spending the holiday in the hospital.
“These gifts are always a welcome surprise to our patients and bring so much joy – not only to our patients, but also to those involved in the creation and distribution of them,” said Koch.
About AdventHealth Daytona Beach
AdventHealth’s parent company, Adventist Health System, has announced that it will soon change its name to AdventHealth. Based in Altamonte Springs, Adventist Health System is one of the nation’s largest faith-based health care systems with nearly 50 hospital campuses and more than 80,000 employees. As of Jan. 2, 2019, all of Adventist Health System’s wholly owned hospitals and care sites across its footprint in nine states will adopt the AdventHealth name and logo. This name change is not the result of a merger, acquisition or change in ownership, but part of our efforts to help consumers easily identify AdventHealth’s care locations and services. We remain steadfastly committed to delivering whole-person care for the mind, body and spirit and our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ remains the same.
Located in Daytona Beach, AdventHealth Daytona Beach has 327-beds and is one of the six AdventHealths in Flagler, Lake and Volusia counties that composes the AdventHealth Central Florida Division - North Region.
