As part of our $78 million expansion, we will open a brand-new, state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The new Cath lab will be one of the first areas completed, opening in March 2016. To celebrate the opening of the new Cath lab, we will hold a Ribbon Cutting and Open House, which will also include the MEGA Heart Exhibit.
Open to the community, the event will take place on Sunday, March 13 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce, Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce and Trinity-Odessa Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to cut the ribbon at 1:00 pm. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to tour the new Cath lab, which is outfitted with the latest technology. And, the MEGA Heart will be onsite and available for tours. The MEGA Heart is the worlds only portable walkthrough heart exhibit. Visitors can step inside the human heart, learn about cardiovascular functions, observe examples of various types of heart disease, and see information about some of the latest medical treatments for heart problems.
The event is free and open to the public; however, registration is required. To register for the event, visit AdventHealth Wesley Chapel.
In addition to the Cath lab, the expansion will add three additional floors to the hospitals center wing and add an additional three-story wing that will connect the south and center wings. It involves 111,993 square feet of new construction and 10,834 square feet of renovation. In addition to the second heart catheterization lab, additional emergency rooms, inpatient rooms, surgical suites, recovery/observation rooms and shelled space for future growth will be added. The expansion is expected to be complete in December 2016.
