When someone shows signs of a stroke, every minute can affect recovery.

For families in southeastern Kentucky, having a local care team prepared to act quickly can bring confidence in a frightening moment. AdventHealth Manchester has earned the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Silver award for its work to strengthen stroke care in rural settings.

The recognition honors rural hospitals that follow evidence-based practices designed to close gaps in care and improve outcomes for people experiencing stroke.

For patients, this means AdventHealth Manchester is focused on the steps that matter most in an emergency: quickly identifying possible stroke symptoms, coordinating with emergency medical services, completing timely brain imaging, consulting stroke experts, providing appropriate treatment when clinically indicated and arranging transfer to a higher level of care when needed.

Stroke remains a leading cause of death and disability in the United States, making fast, evidence-based treatment essential.

In rural areas, where patients often face longer transport times and fewer local resources, access to high-quality stroke care can make a critical difference.

“We are proud that our team at AdventHealth Manchester is being recognized for the important work we do every day to improve the lives of people in southeastern Kentucky who are affected by stroke,” said James Nelson, DNP, RN, CCRN-K, NEA-BC, FACHE, vice president and chief nursing officer.

AdventHealth Manchester remains focused on helping people receive timely, high-quality stroke care close to home, when every minute matters.
