Fast stroke care earns 5 AdventHealth hospitals national recognition

When a stroke happens, every minute matters. Fast recognition and treatment can help save lives, limit complications and give patients a stronger chance at recovery.

That's why the American Heart Association has recognized all five AdventHealth Rocky Mountain Region hospitals for delivering high-quality stroke care rooted in current research-based guidelines.

AdventHealth Avista, AdventHealth Castle Rock, AdventHealth Littleton and AdventHealth Parker received the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus award. AdventHealth Porter received the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Silver Plus award.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. For patients and families, the difference between fear and hope often begins with timely, coordinated care from teams trained to act quickly.

“These recognitions are a clear reflection of the high-quality, evidence-based stroke care our teams deliver every day across the Rocky Mountain Region," said Rachel Miles, chief nursing officer for AdventHealth’s Rocky Mountain Region. "They show that our hospitals are acting quickly, following the latest clinical guidelines, and working together to give patients the best possible chance for better outcomes, fewer complications and a stronger recovery. For stroke patients and their families, that means expert care they can trust from the moment they arrive.”

AdventHealth Littleton, AdventHealth Parker, and AdventHealth Castle Rock were named to the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. The Stroke Honor Roll Elite award recognizes hospitals that reduce the time between a patient's arrival at the hospital and their treatment with medications to dissolve dangerous blood clots.

The Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognizes hospitals that provide up-to-date care for stroke patients with Type 2 diabetes, who may face a higher risk of complications.

AdventHealth Littleton also received the Target: Advanced Therapy award, which recognizes hospitals working to reduce the time between a patient’s arrival and treatment to remove the clot causing the stroke.

These honors reflect AdventHealth’s dedication to providing timely, evidence-based stroke treatment that supports better outcomes for patients and families.
