Congratulations to Our DAISY Award Recipients for Providing Extraordinary Care

Nurse with hospital patient

Every day, our amazing nurses live out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ in countless ways. DAISY Award honorees personify this remarkable patient experience we offer, and these nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. Nurses who receive the DAISY Award are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community, and we couldn't be more grateful for their dedicated and heartfelt care.

About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP), an autoimmune disease, at the age of 33.

During Patrick's eight-week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, not only to him but to everyone in his family. One of the goals they set in creating a foundation in Patrick's memory was to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the incredible work they do every day.

Congratulations to Our La Grange and Hinsdale Nurses

Join us as we congratulate and celebrate four of our very own incredible nurses in Chicagoland who are recipients of the DAISY Award. They are:

What is the DAISY Award?

The DAISY Award recognizes the extraordinary, compassionate care that nurses provide patients and families every day.

Nominate a Nurse for the DAISY Award

Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in her/his unit and will receive a beautiful certificate, a DAISY Award pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled “A Healer’s Touch.”

Additionally, everyone in the unit celebrates with cinnamon rolls, a favorite moment of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes Family asks that whenever and wherever nurses smell that wonderful cinnamon fragrance, they stop for a moment and think about how special they are.

You can nominate a nurse, too, by filling out one of two forms for either our La Grange hospital or Hinsdale. Nominate your special nurse with a healing touch today:
