WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. When facing a complex condition or the need for advanced surgery, patients want reassurance that their care team is experienced, their safety is protected and every decision is guided by their well-being.

At AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, that confidence is built through compassionate care, advanced technology and rigorous safety standards — validated by independent national review. As part of this commitment, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel has earned two Center of Excellence accreditations from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC): one for Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy and one for Robotic Surgery.

For patients, these designations offer added peace of mind that their care meets some of the highest standards in health care, with a focus on safety, consistency and outcomes.

What Centers of Excellence mean for patients

Center of Excellence designation signals that a hospital meets rigorous national and international benchmarks for quality and safety. These standards directly impact the patient experience, including:

  • Evidence‑based safety protocols that reduce complications
  • Highly trained, experienced surgical teams
  • Consistent care pathways before, during and after procedures
  • Clear communication and education for patients and families

Not all hospitals pursue this level of accreditation, and among those that do, only a select number meet the requirements to earn it.

Global leadership in robotic‑assisted bronchoscopy

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel’s designation as a Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy Center of Excellence carries a rare global distinction. The hospital is only the second facility in the world to achieve this accreditation, reflecting an exceptional level of expertise in advanced pulmonary care.

Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive approach that allows physicians to reach difficult-to-access areas of the lung with greater precision, helping support earlier diagnosis while prioritizing patient safety.

Additionally, Dr. Amit Tandon, a pulmonologist at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, has been named the first-ever Master Surgeon for Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy.

“For patients, this recognition provides confidence during an already uncertain time,” Dr. Tandon said. “It reassures them that their care is guided by advanced technology, extensive experience and safety standards designed to protect them at every step. Our goal is to deliver precise, minimally invasive care while helping patients feel informed, supported and secure throughout their treatment.”

A rigorous review focused on safety and quality

Hospitals seeking SRC accreditation undergo an extensive, independent evaluation that includes a review of clinical outcomes, surgical volumes, facility resources, standardized procedures, patient education and continuous quality monitoring. Inspectors also work directly with care teams to reinforce best practices and promote ongoing improvement.

“We’re proud to recognize AdventHealth Wesley Chapel for its commitment to advancing safety and quality in robotic and surgical care,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of Surgical Review Corporation. “These accreditations demonstrate a consistent, patient‑centered approach that meets the highest standards in these specialties.”

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel remains committed to delivering whole‑person care — supporting healing of the body, mind and spirit — and helping patients feel confident, cared for and never alone on their journey to better health.
