WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — AdventHealth Winter Garden will begin welcoming patients on July 27 to the new home of the AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden, expanding access to advanced, whole-person cancer care close to home for families in West Orange County and surrounding communities.
Demand for cancer care in the Winter Garden area is expected to grow steadily over the coming years.
According to Sg2, a national health care consulting agency, PET imaging demand is projected to increase by 7.1% by 2027. This trend reflects a growing need for accessible, high-quality cancer care for families across the Winter Garden community and surrounding areas.
“Today is a meaningful step forward for cancer care in Winter Garden and for the growing community we are privileged to serve,” said Dr. Mazen Zaarour, hematologist and oncologist at AdventHealth Winter Garden. “This new home for the AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden was thoughtfully designed with patients and families at the center. It brings together advanced treatments, specialized expertise and whole-person support so more people can receive expert care right in their backyard.”
For patients like Damu Cherry-Mitchell, that kind of care can make a lasting difference.
“From the very beginning, my care team took the time to understand me, not just my diagnosis, and guided me through every step with expertise and compassion,” Cherry-Mitchell said. “Knowing I have a doctor who truly cares about me as a person has made all the difference. Having this level of care right here in Winter Garden gives me peace of mind and the encouragement to keep moving forward.”
The AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden will offer a broad range of services, including:
- Radiation oncology
- Medical oncology
- Immunotherapy
- Personalized, genetics-informed treatment plans
- Multidisciplinary care from board-certified oncologists, specialized nurses and nurse navigators
- Eden Spa and Boutique, offering support for hair loss, lymphedema and post-mastectomy needs
- Connection to AdventHealth’s broader network of nationally and globally recognized cancer specialists
“Having this level of cancer care here in Winter Garden means so much to our community,” said Winter Garden Mayor John Rees. “It gives families the peace of mind that comes from knowing they can receive world-class care close to home. It also brings meaningful economic impact to the area, including approximately 50 new jobs.”
“This facility is more than a new place for care,” said Aimee Keller-Pickford, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden. “It’s about helping more people feel supported, informed and never alone during one of the most difficult times in their lives.”
