PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Patients in Charlotte County now have access to one of the most advanced robotic-assisted surgical technologies, the da Vinci 5 system, designed to make surgery less invasive, reduce pain and speed recovery, all without leaving the community.
The da Vinci 5 system, now in use at AdventHealth Port Charlotte, allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision and control, using tiny instruments and high-definition 3D visualization. The surgeon remains fully in control at all times, translating their hand movements into smaller, more precise actions inside the patient’s body. The system supports procedures in urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgery, offering more options for those who need specialized care.
“Access to advanced surgical care shouldn’t require traveling far from home. By bringing this leading-edge technology to Port Charlotte, we’re ensuring that families in our community can receive the best possible treatment right here,” AdventHealth Port Charlotte CEO Adam Johnson said. “This investment reflects our commitment to leading in innovation while delivering compassionate, whole-person care that our community can trust.”
The new surgical system will be used by several surgeons at AdventHealth Port Charlotte, including Dr. Vincent Brown, Dr. Charles Campbell, Dr. Matthew Tufts, Dr. Domingo Galliano, Dr. Ricky Leff and Dr. Boris Borges, representing specialties such as general surgery, bariatrics, colorectal surgery and obstetrics/gynecology.
Intuitive, which produces the surgical system, said this technology has been built on more than a decade of research and over 14 million successful procedures worldwide.
