AdventHealth Ocala is expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care for the community and helping to train the next generation of healers with it’s new Family Medicine Residency Practice. The clinic, which is the first of its kind in the Ocala area, will serve as a training ground for the hospital’s inaugural class of Graduate Medical Residents who will work alongside experienced physicians to deliver compassionate care that supports patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

On Thursday, August 14, AdventHealth Ocala leaders, family medicine program faculty and residents joined community leaders in cutting the ribbon on the clinic on 221 SW 11th street in Ocala during a special ceremony. Attendees also got the chance to meet with the eight new physicians who are taking their next steps to become fully licensed, board-certified family physicians.

The facility features 20 exams rooms, 2 procedure rooms, a lab, a classroom and 15 offices.

Graduate Medical Education is the final phase of medical training that equips physicians to become independent physicians in their specialty. This is the first class of family medicine residents at AdventHealth Ocala.

“We are thrilled to have this new facility, where these incredibly talented and devoted family medicine residents will strengthen their abilities while enhancing healthcare in our community,” said Dr. Klive Forde, the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at AdventHealth Ocala. “We look forward to helping nurture them into compassionate and clinically outstanding physician leaders, who will work diligently to provide exceptional whole-person care to patients.”

AdventHealth Ocala’s innovative Clinic First residency curriculum emphasizes the importance of the family medicine outpatient practice as the primary site for clinical training. Residents will have the opportunity to work closely with attending physicians across all specialties and immerse themselves in AdventHealth’s  whole-person care model, with residents guiding patients toward total wellness – mind, body, and spirit.

“This is a momentous day for our hospital as we celebrate the opening of our new Graduate Medical Education facility, which will further enhance our team’s ability to provide exceptional care to our patients, while supporting these outstanding physicians on their journey to become the next generation of healers,” AdventHealth Ocala President and CEO Erika Skula said. “We are extremely grateful to have them as part of our AdventHealth family.”
