AdventHealth Avista is proud to celebrate Nina Huffer, Chief Nursing Officer, for being named the recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Nursing – Nursing Administration: Executive / CNO award for the state of Colorado.
This prestigious recognition, presented by the Colorado Nurses Foundation, highlights Nina’s unwavering commitment to advancing nursing excellence. Part of her nomination noted that “Nina leads with compassion, advancing nursing excellence through empowerment, innovation, improved nurse retention and patient outcomes while earning top scores in patient experience.”
Some of AdventHealth Avista’s impressive accomplishments under Nina’s leadership include:
- Ranked first for inpatient patient experience scores and in the top 10 for emergency department patient experience scores in our multi-state healthcare system which has more than 50 hospitals across the United States.
- AdventHealth Avista has touted a Leapfrog A score for 12 consecutive cycles.
- This year, the NICU was once again honored with the prestigious Guardian of Excellence award for the second year in a row.
- Clinical staff turnover rate is the lowest in the region, currently at an impressive 15.5%, a remarkable achievement in the current nursing climate.
- No instance of CAUTI for over 1172 days (about 3 years) and no CLABSI reported in over 2148 days (about 6 years).
Her leadership has not only elevated the standard of care at AdventHealth Avista but has also fostered a culture where nurses feel empowered and supported.
