WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — For cancer patients and families in West Orange and South Lake Counties, care closer to home can make a difficult journey feel less stressful. That vision is becoming reality as AdventHealth celebrated the topping-out of the AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden, marking the building’s highest point of construction.
Designed to serve a rapidly growing community, the new institute will bring advanced cancer services right to Winter Garden, helping patients spend less time traveling and more time focused on healing.
“This milestone represents our promise to meet the needs of a growing community with care that treats the whole person — body, mind and spirit,” said Aimee Keller-Pickford, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden. “It’s a meaningful step toward expanding access to compassionate cancer care, delivered close to home and centered on the needs of patients and families.”
Demand for cancer care in the Winter Garden area is expected to grow steadily over the coming years. According to Sg2, a national health care consulting agency, PET imaging demand is projected to increase by 7.1% by 2027. This trend reflects a growing need for accessible, high-quality cancer care for families across the Winter Garden community and surrounding areas.
“When someone hears the words ‘you have cancer,’ everything changes,” said Dr. Miles Bennett, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Winter Garden. “This new location helps ensure patients can access advanced cancer care with compassion and coordination, in a space created to support healing, dignity and peace of mind.”
Once complete, the AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden will offer a comprehensive range of services, including medical and radiation oncology, immunotherapy and personalized, targeted treatments tailored to each patient’s unique genetic profile. Care will be delivered by a dedicated team of board-certified oncologists, specialized nurses and nurse navigators who work together to guide patients through every step of their journey.
The facility will also include the Eden Spa and Boutique, offering specialized products and services for patients experiencing hair loss, lymphedema and post-mastectomy needs — reinforcing AdventHealth’s commitment to caring for emotional and physical well-being alongside clinical treatment.
Through this new location, patients will be connected to AdventHealth’s globally recognized cancer specialists while receiving care in a space designed to feel supportive, calming and close to home.
The AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden is designed by ESa, with Brasfield & Gorrie serving as the general contractor. Construction is expected to be completed by early summer 2026.
