Wellness Exams for Women
Well-woman exams are an essential part of preventive health care and should be conducted on at least an annual basis. Not only do they offer an excellent opportunity for patients to get up-to-date on needed immunizations and recommended health screenings, but they help you build a health care partnership with your doctor through which chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or high cholesterol can be appropriately managed over time. Just as important, a well-woman exam allows for early detection of emerging health issues that may need to be addressed by your doctor so they don’t become more serious in the future. Physicians who offer comprehensive well-woman exams can provide routine gynecologic care including Pap tests and clinical breast exams along with other needed health screenings for conditions such as osteoporosis.
