Stomach Cancer
Stomach cancer develops when cells in the stomach begin to mutate and multiply out of control. Stomach cancer usually goes undetected in the early stages because most patients don’t experience any symptoms. Due to this, most cancer cases aren’t diagnosed until years after it begins to develop. Some common symptoms include poor appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain, heartburn and indigestion, nausea, vomiting, swelling in the abdomen and low red blood cell count. Keep in mind, however, that these symptoms are more likely the result of a condition other than stomach cancer, such as a stomach virus or an ulcer. If cancer is detected, a plan of care will be created and may include surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy and lifestyle changes.
