Penile Doppler Ultrasound

Penile Doppler ultrasound is a special imaging test for evaluating erectile dysfunction and a connective tissue disorder known as Peyronie’s Disease. Urologists employ this test in part to see how the patient’s condition responds to certain vasodilator medications. The test involves injecting the penis with medication, waiting a few minutes, and then taking ultrasound images using a lubricated probe placed on the skin. The ultrasound looks at the cavernosal arteries on each side of the organ, allowing the physician to see whether the problem is an “inflow” or “outflow” issue.
