Foot Swelling
Foot swelling often develops due to an abnormal build-up of fluid in the ankle and leg tissues, usually in older people. This swelling is commonly caused by blood pressure drugs, certain antidepressants, hormone levels, various allergies, environmental factors, sitting down or standing for long periods, sunburns and pregnancy. It could also be a symptom of a more serious problem, such as heart failure, renal failure or liver failure. Foot swelling can be prevented by elevating the legs above the heart when lying down, walking around frequently instead of sitting or standing, exercising the legs regularly and wearing loose-fitting, breathable clothing.
