Facet Joint Injections
Facet joint injections are used to help diagnose conditions and for therapeutic reasons, particularly for patients with degenerative and/or arthritic conditions or injuries of the spine. Since facet joints enable spinal movement, these injections provide neck, middle back, or lower back pain relief and may also help in managing pain within the shoulders, arms, buttocks or upper legs. A typical course of injections is often accompanied by a regular exercise program, including both stretching and strengthening movements. This is crucial for maintaining and improving patients’ spinal mobility and stability. Injections are performed in your doctor’s office by a pain management specialist. Most patients are able to return to regular activities in a short amount of time.
