Dementia
Dementia refers to a group of symptoms affecting intellectual and social abilities so significantly as to interfere with daily functioning. Dementia indicates problems with at least two brain functions, such as memory loss and impaired judgment or language. Someone suffering from dementia may have trouble remembering people and names, and may display signs of confusion, changes in personality and social behavior. There are many causes of dementia, but some types (such as Alzheimer’s disease), occur entirely on their own and not as a result of another disease. Some dementias that are caused by reactions to medication or infection are reversible with treatment.
