When appropriate, our surgeons will use robotics and computer technologies that allow for enhanced precision and better patient outcomes. Our robotics and computer technologies use a virtual 3D model, allowing our surgeons to create a unique plan for each patient before entering the operating room.

For patients who aren't ready for surgery, we offer a comprehensive range of nonsurgical options to manage symptoms and improve function. These include joint injections to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief, bracing to stabilize the joint and redistribute load and guided activity modification, such as transitioning to low-impact exercises, avoiding repetitive strain and optimizing daily movement patterns. We also offer physical therapy to strengthen the muscles that support the hip and knee, improve flexibility and enhance balance and joint mechanics. When combined with targeted conditioning and lifestyle adjustments, these interventions can significantly reduce pain, improve function and in many cases, delay or even prevent the need for surgery while supporting long-term joint health.

Barb Fox has a passion for discovery — she set out to explore the world, one step at a time. However, one day, she was left in severe pain after a hike and was later referred to AdventHealth Porter to receive a total hip replacement. As a world traveler, she knew surgery was her best chance to reclaim her active lifestyle.
