Balance Disorders
A balance disorder causes a person to feel unsteady or feel as if they are spinning or floating. These conditions are common and can be due to medication, certain health conditions, inner ear problems or brain disorders. Most balancing spells are temporary and don’t have a large impact on a person's day-to-day routine. A doctor should be notified if a balance disorder begins to disrupt daily activities, causes emotional or psychological hardship, or causes injury. Treatments for balance disorders may include changing medication, simple movements to fix the inner ear imbalance, lifestyle changes and possible surgery to treat any brain conditions that could be causing the disorder.
