Abnormal uterine bleeding is bleeding that occurs in between periods, that is particularly heavy during a woman’s menstrual cycle, or that occurs after menopause. These causes range from a bleeding disorder to uterine fibroids or polyps, hormonal changes, genital irritation, endometrial lesions, a pelvic or vaginal infection, endometrial cancer and radiation therapy. Possible treatment methods include hormonal therapy, oral contraceptives, thyroid medication and minimally invasive surgical options.
