The Infusion Clinic at AdventHealth South Overland Park can be accessed through the ER entrance. This unit provides three bays for non-oncology related infusions. Because our infusion clinic is located within the hospital, patients and physicians benefit from continuity of care, on-site lab services, easy access to patient records and an on-site emergency room.

- Blood Transfusions

Blood Transfusion Ordering Guidelines
- Include a current hemoglobin and hematocrit result with all transfusion orders.
- Indicate the total number of units requested (one or two) and plan for approximately three hours per unit.
- Prescribe premedications such as acetaminophen and/or diphenhydramine when appropriate.
- Note whether furosemide is required between units and specify oral or IV administration.
Patient Referrals
The Infusion Clinic is open Monday - Friday, 7 am to 12 pm.
To refer a patient, fax the completed order to the Infusion Clinic at 913‑789‑3211.
For patients who need to be evaluated within 24 hours, fax the order and follow up with a phone call to the Infusion Clinic at 913-373-4220. Please note that standard scheduling may take up to one week.
Orders must include:
- Patient’s full name and date of birth
- Height and weight
- Allergy information
- Diagnosis code
- Medication details (dose, route, frequency, and total number of doses)
- Ordering provider’s name and signature
- Patient demographic information
Clinic Patient Criteria
Patients should be able to:
- Remain seated in a recliner for the full length of the appointment.
- Use the call light as needed during their visit.
- Arrange for transportation home at the time of discharge.
If a patient is scheduled to take prescribed medications during their infusion (including pain or anti‑nausea medications), they should bring those medications with them to the clinic.

Sending Infusion Clinic Orders
Complete the Infusion Clinic order form in full and ensure all required fields are completed, including the ordering provider’s signature.
Submit the following with the order:
- Patient demographic information
- Insurance card(s), if available
For insurance authorization, include:
- Notes from the patient’s two most recent office visits
- Relevant lab results from the past one to three months
- Any additional supporting clinical documentation
For iron infusion requests, please also provide documentation of prior oral and/or intravenous iron therapy.

Insurance Authorization Information
Insurance approvals can take up to 14 business days to process. If an authorization has already been obtained, please send it to the Pre‑Access Department by fax or email.

Important Reminders
- Appointments cannot be scheduled until insurance approval has been received.
- If a patient needs to be seen within 48 hours, please contact the clinic directly to discuss next steps.
- Patients should plan to check in at the Emergency Entrance of AdventHealth South Overland Park rather than the Main Entrance.
