Joseph Esparaz, MD

Joseph R. Esparaz, MD, MPH, is a board-certified pediatric surgeon who earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois, where he was named Resident Teacher of the Year. He then completed his pediatric surgery and pediatric endoscopic surgery fellowships at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, focusing on single incision laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Esparaz has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and remains dedicated to furthering the education of surgery for the upcoming generations. He believes in treating every surgery equally to provide the highest quality of care to each child. Dr. Esparaz felt called to pediatric surgery because of children’s resilience, which he finds inspiring and rewarding.
