Karen Kamerzell, NP

Karen Kamerzall’s nursing journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Platt College, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from American Sentinel College at Post University, where she graduated with honors from both programs. Early in her education, she discovered a profound passion for cardiology—the intricate workings of the heart, the opportunity to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives, and the blend of science, technology, and compassionate care that defines the specialty. Over the years, Karen has gained extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient cardiology settings, caring for patients across a wide spectrum of cardiac conditions. Her current role holds special meaning, as it marks her return to South Denver Cardiology—a place she first worked in 2007. Coming back as a nurse practitioner specializing in electrophysiology feels like a full-circle moment. In this focused area, she diagnoses and manages complex heart rhythm disorders, collaborates closely with the organization’s outstanding cardiologists, and provides personalized care to help patients regain confidence and quality of life through advanced treatments and ongoing support. Karen maintains active memberships in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). Most recently, she earned her BLS Instructor certification, reflecting her commitment to excellence, education, and mentoring others in life saving skills.

Outside the clinic, Karen cherishes time with her family—including their beloved furry companions—along with close friends. She enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and recharging in Colorado’s beautiful mountains, whether hiking or simply taking in the fresh air and stunning views that remind her why she is so grateful to practice here.
