Individualizing Treatment for Asthma in Primary Care (iTREAT-PC)



iTREAT Study Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of two different ways to treat asthma. The first way is adding inhaled corticosteroids to your rescue medication (the medicine that opens your airways quickly). The second way is using an antibiotic (azithromycin) over time. These treatments will be used alone or together and compared to usual care. Everyone in the study will have a system to track asthma symptoms at home. We hope to find out who will do best with each type of treatment, which is not known at this time. Study Duration: 16 months Study Commitment: • Screening Visit (ICF, Intake Survey, Baseline Survey, AZ medication check, ECG, Randomziation, optional blood work • Phone calls with Questionnaire every two months for 16 months and a short interview about your participation in the study Age: 13+ years old Sex: Male and Female Conditions/Eligibility: Male or females, 13+ with asthma Study Procedures: • Surveys/Questionnaires • Blood work • EKG Compensation: $50 for initial survey and $20 for each additional survey
