AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute Launches NIH-Funded THRIVE Trial

AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute has launched THRIVE, an NIH-funded clinical trial led by Lauren Oberlin, PhD, geriatric neuropsychologist and neuroscience researcher. The study tests whether digital brain exercises can boost mood, cognition, and brain connectivity in older adults with apathy and depression.

Apathy affects up to half of those with late-life depression and often resists standard treatments. THRIVE offers a non-invasive, home-based program of 25–30 minutes of training, five days a week for four weeks.

“This trial could identify a novel intervention to enhance outcomes for older adults,” says Dr. Oberlin.
