During this exercise stress test, you’ll be connected to cardiac monitoring equipment and asked to walk slowly on a treadmill. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing helps us evaluate how well your heart and lungs can function during sustained physical activity.

These tests show us how well your lungs are working. They measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow and gas exchange. This information can help your health care provider diagnose certain lung disorders and develop the best treatment plan for each.

This medical assessment is done before surgery to evaluate your lung health and ensure you're ready for the procedure. It may include a physical exam, spirometry, lab testing (such as a complete blood count or arterial blood gas), chest imaging (like an X-ray or CT scan) and possibly other tests depending on your risk factors.

A sleep study, also called a polysomnogram, is a diagnostic test that tracks and records how multiple body systems work while you’re asleep. It involves sensors that track the activity of multiple body systems, including your heart, brain and respiratory system, giving health care providers a comprehensive view of the quality of your sleep.
