Making Nutrition Part of Healing
Nutrition plays an important role in supporting your strength, energy and healing during cancer treatment. At our AdventHealth Cancer Institute, we understand that eating well can feel challenging when your body is going through so much.
The Center for Nutritional Excellence and AdventHealth Cancer Institute partner with AdventHealth Cooking Center to provide live cooking demonstrations and nutritional information for patients during all stages of treatment. The group is facilitated by a registered dietitian, chef and social work services at AdventHealth. Registration is required, and we look forward to cooking with you.
Since meeting times vary, please call us at Call407-303-2032 for specific dates and times.

- Why Your Nutrition Matters
-
During cancer treatment, your body may need more energy and nutrients to heal, maintain strength and manage side effects. Eating well can help support your immune system, reduce fatigue and improve how you feel day to day.
Nutrition isn’t about perfection. It’s about doing what you can, when you can, with guidance that respects your preferences, symptoms and treatment plan. - Common Nutrition Challenges You May Experience
-
Many people experience changes that affect how and what they’re able to eat during treatment. These may include:
- Changes in sense of taste or smell
- Fatigue that makes meal preparation harder
- Loss of appetite or feeling full quickly
- Mouth sores or difficulty swallowing
- Nausea or vomiting
If any of these side effects sound familiar, you’re not alone. Our care team can help you find practical strategies to make eating more comfortable and sustainable.
- Helpful Tips to Support Nutrition
-
Small changes can make a meaningful difference. Depending on how you’re feeling, these approaches may help:
- Choose foods that are easy to chew, swallow and digest
- Eat smaller meals or snacks throughout the day
- Focus on protein-rich foods to help maintain strength
- Give yourself permission to eat what sounds good in the moment
- Stay hydrated, sipping fluids regularly
There’s no single “right way" to eat during treatment. What matters most is finding what works for you to stay nourished.
