Melinda earned her master's degree in nursing through the Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum at Research College of Nursing, where she also had earned her bachelor of science in nursing. She also holds a bachelor of science in food science and human nutrition from the University of Florida. Melinda is fluent in Haitian Creole and also speaks conversational Spanish and basic French. Prior to joining AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Melinda worked as a registered nurse at various medical centers on the east and west coasts and in Kansas, and also worked in various other clinical roles and as a nursing instructor. Melinda has also served as a medical volunteer on multiple mission trips to Haiti.
