A Message from Our Director

Welcome to the AdventHealth Orlando, formerly Florida Hospital Orlando, 12-month PGY2 Oncology Residency.

Our primary mission is to provide quality pharmaceutical patient care. As part of multidisciplinary teams, we share the responsibility of monitoring responses to drug therapy and optimizing care to improve patient outcomes. Residents who complete the Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at AdventHealth Orlando will develop the critical thinking skills necessary to provide specialized, patient-focused care and become confident, independent critical care specialists on the health care team.

Program Description

General information:

  • Positions available: 1 full-time, 12-month commitment
  • Estimated Annual Stipend: meeting travel support
  • 12 months health insurance
  • 10 days paid vacation
  • 5 Project Days
  • 5 Professional Days
  • Weekend requirements: Every 3rd weekend in Oncology position
  • Evening requirement: average of 1 weekday evening every 2nd week
  • Total average of ~12 hours per week staffing commitment
  • Overnight requirement: per overnight schedule
  • On-Call requirement: per on-call schedule
  • Application Deadline: January 3, 2019
  • Officer and Committee Involvement

Required Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of pharmacy degree
  • Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience
  • Possession or Eligibility for Florida licensure
  • Participant in the National Matching Services and PhORCAS
  • The following application materials must be submitted by the deadline: curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation utilizing the PhORCAS template (1 from clinical pharmacist, 1 from Residency Program Director), transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended.

  • 1 Newsletter article for the pharmacy residency newsletter
  • 1 guideline order set, policy, or SOP

Meet our Current Resident

Tyler Nichols, PharmD
Dr. Tyler Nichols was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. He attended Florida State University for his undergraduate studies and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida in 2017. He completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Henry Ford Hospital, where he conducted research in antibiotic harm in febrile neutropenia and tolerability of regorafenib at different starting doses. He is continuing his training as a PGY2 Oncology Resident at AdventHealth Orlando. Professionally, Tyler’s interests include hematologic malignancies, bone marrow transplant, and quality improvement. Upon completion of his PGY2 Oncology Residency, he plans to become a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist in order to pursue a career as a clinical specialist.
