AdventHealth Cancer Institute opened its first multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic in Altamonte Springs in 2018 and in March 2019, opened its second clinic in Orlando at 2501 North Orange Avenue, Suite 231.
Staffed by a care team of breast cancer specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and breast cancer surgeons, the clinics are designed to evaluate breast cancer patients in a comprehensive, single-visit setting to provide them with individualized, coordinated care. This approach also decreases the time between diagnosis and treatment.
Prior to a patient’s appointment, the care team reviews the case so that they can optimize the care plan. At the appointment, the patient meets with the team to discuss the best treatment options for the specific diagnosis. Patients also have the opportunity to ask the care team any questions they may have. Additional appointments for imaging, labs or ancillary services, such as plastic surgery, are discussed with the patient and scheduled as needed.
