ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 20, 2016

One year after its grand opening, AdventHealth for Women continues to expand on its health care services and capacity for women in Central Florida.

Many of the upcoming additions speak to the critical role of prevention, and all speak to the hospital's mission to deliver affordable, connected and exceptional care.

The additions include a new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and surgical suite, both slated to open this spring. A NICU will occupy two floors and will build upon the services already provided in the NICU floors at the adjacent AdventHealth for Children, bringing the hospitals NICU bed total to 102.

Since opening in January 2016:

More than 7,000 people have been treated at AdventHealth for Women.

Nearly 3,800 babies have been born at the Orlando hospital, including 78 sets of twins and four sets of triplets.

More than 750 mammography screenings were performed.

In addition, the AdventHealth Mothers Milk Depot collected more than 20,000 ounces of donor breast milk for the Mothers Milk Bank of Florida. That's more than double 2015s collections. Organizers attribute this success, in part, to the new location at AdventHealth for Women.

Since its conception, we have wanted AdventHealth for Women to be a premier destination and resource for women of all stages in life, said Marla Silliman, senior executive officer of AdventHealth for Women. As we grow and our programs develop, that is continuing to take shape. We are honored our community has entrusted us for their health care.

The hospital also continues to expand its community health education courses, among them the As Your Child Grows program for parents of infants and toddlers.

AdventHealth for Women also serves patients at all tri-county campuses, with OB services specifically offered at AdventHealth Altamonte, Celebration Health and Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

AdventHealth for Women is part of a larger vision to improve women’s health in the community, providing comprehensive services including obstetrics, high risk obstetrics, gynecologic oncology, minimally invasive women’s surgery, neonatal intensive care, digital mammography, women’s cardiovascular, wellness and education, a lactation center and the High Risk Breast Center.
