With a little one in the house, you manage a million different things — and you always find a way to put your family first. But when it comes to your health, it’s important to make preventive care a priority in order to detect new issues, manage any existing conditions and stay well for years to come.

  1. Preventive Care Supports Your Long-Term Wellness

At your annual checkup (also known as a well-woman exam), your care provider will update your health history, check your height, weight and blood pressure, and often perform a physical exam including a breast and pelvic exam. These exams and tests will help detect any diseases or disorders and determine if further testing is needed.

In some cases, your doctor will be able to identify a condition even if you are not experiencing any symptoms. The earlier a condition is caught, the easier it is to treat.

  1. Your Health Goals Should Be Heard

Gynecologists are here to help you with any health-related concerns, including family planning, medications and uncomfortable symptoms. They’re also here to make sure you are supported in your mental and emotional health. Your well-woman exam is the perfect time to have a one-on-one discussion with your doctor about your health goals.

Once your well-woman exam is complete and all your questions are answered, your provider will work with you to create a plan of care that is catered to you. This plan may include lifestyle changes, new medication, counseling, referrals, additional testing or surgery. Whatever your treatment may be, rest assured our team will be there for you every step of the way.
