The AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach Foundation donated $2,000 to the Medical Academy at New Smyrna Beach High School.
These funds will be used to purchase test preparation materials for industry certifications and to send students to regional and state competitions for Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). HOSA is a national career and technical student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the largest national education association in the U.S.
These funds were raised during AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach Foundation’s 2018 Holiday Charity Ball at the Brannon Community Center in November. A black-tie event, the Holiday Charity Ball is a tradition that began in 1996.
In 2018, AdventHealth entered a historic $2 million, five-year partnership with Volusia County Schools to address three key issues affecting students: career development in the healthcare industry; student-athlete health; and chronic absenteeism.
