AdventHealth Hendersonville Earns Back-to-Back Leapfrog Top Hospital Awards for Outstanding Quality and Safety

N.C., December 06, 2022 — AdventHealth Hendersonville Earns Back-to-Back Leapfrog Top Hospital Awards for Outstanding Quality and Safety

Dec. 6, 2022; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, AdventHealth Hendersonville was named a Top General Hospital nationally by The Leapfrog Group. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is bestowed by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setters for health care safety and quality. Top Hospitals will be honored tonight at the 2022 Leapfrog Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.

The Leapfrog Group considered more than 2,200 hospitals for the award. Among those, AdventHealth Hendersonville received a Top General distinction. A total of 115 top hospitals were selected as Top Hospitals, including:

• 32 Top General
• 13 Top Rural
• 58 Top Teaching

The quality of patient care across many areas of hospital performance is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

“Achieving Top Hospital requires us to really get it right across the board,” explains Gretchen Nicholson, Director of Office of Collaborative Improvement for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “We maintain our strong support of safety culture across our teams through many efforts including nursing and clinical team debriefs and safe staffing level tracking with daily huddles.” The AdventHealth team does all of this to keep the hospital at the top of the quality and safety metrics that allow us to provide the patient experience that is leading more people to choose AdventHealth for their health care.
