N.C., June 08, 2020 — AdventHealth Hendersonville Announces New Winner of DAISY Award for Nursing

June 8, 2020; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is honored to have an incredible team of nurses and it is a privilege to introduce you to the latest member of this team to win the DAISY Award, David Huerta, BSN, RN. David is part of the AdventHealth Medical/Surgical Care Unit.

David was nominated for this award by his supervisor who shared this glimpse into David’s commitment to provide exceptional care to every patient, every time:

During one shift, David had just received a new patient and had gotten them settled. He also had another patient that pretty much needed one-on-one care and was requiring a lot of attention. The floor was getting multiple admissions and David stepped up and took one of the incoming patients even when it was not his turn. This new patient also required extra attention and care time. David had to give multiple reports and ended up having to stay late to ensure each patient’s care was completed.

“David goes above and beyond to be a team player. He always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face, no matter what,” said Brittany Hughes, BSN, RN, Clinical Nurse Leader at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “He is appreciated by his entire team!”

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to thank the nurses who cared for Patrick and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Patrick lost his battle, but his family realized the impact his nurses had on the final days of his life. For that they are forever grateful. They wanted to create an opportunity for all families who experience the benefits of the extraordinary care of nurses to show their appreciation.
