July Breastfeeding Class
About this Event
This two-hour in-depth Breastfeeding course is designed for expecting or postpartum mothers and partners who desire to learn more about successful breastfeeding. Mothers that have had breastfeeding challenges in the past are also encouraged to attend. Learn about how to identify infant hunger cues and respond, positioning and latching your baby for successful breastfeeding, how to hand-express breast milk, basics of using a breast pump and pumping tips/tricks and understanding common breastfeeding challenges. Please bring a baby doll or stuffed animal to class to practice breastfeeding positions.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the benefits of breastfeeding.
- Understand breast anatomy and function.
- You will be able to identify infant hunger cues and how to respond.
- How to position your baby in common breastfeeding and burping positions.
- Able to understand how to deeply latch infant to ensure proper milk transfer.
- How to hand-express breast milk.
- Understand common breastfeeding challenges (sore nipples, blocked ducts, mastitis, thrush, flat/inverted nipples, growth spurts).
- Basics of using a breast pump.
- Understand how alcohol, nicotine, and THC affect Breastfeeding.
