Lori Hughes, MD, along with her team, delivers excellent, compassionate care with the goal of helping each patient through the difficulties of cancer treatment. She feels honored to bring her expertise to a smaller community like Calhoun so you and your family can receive the care you need, close to home.
Dr. Hughes serves as a radiation oncologist and director of the AdventHealth Harris Radiation Therapy Center. Prior to joining AdventHealth Gordon, she served as a radiation oncologist for The Hope Center in Cartersville, as well as at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
She's a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. After graduation, she completed an internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, also in Houston.
She has been board-certified since 1990, has received numerous honors and awards and is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Her background also includes teaching credentials, lectureships and visiting professorships.
Dr. Hughes is a native of Atlanta and has three grown children. She enjoys ballet, sewing and gardening.
