Therapeutic and Cohesive Intervention
Our therapists use written work, experiential role playing and skill building, bibliotherapy, video work and discussion, and many other methods to help students enhance their social and coping skills. Because the groups are together for an academic year or more in some cases, therapy groups can become a highly therapeutic and cohesive intervention in helping our students be successful through peer support and positive peer pressure.
Therapies We Offer
- Group Therapy
-
Most students participate in group therapy the equivalent of 40 minutes per day. Groups tend to be highly structured and deal with issues such as social skills, assertiveness, anger management, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, stress management, healthy living and independent living skills.
- Individual Therapy
-
All AdventHealth GlenOaks School students have individual therapy at least once per week. Weekly individual therapy is designed to provide your child with the support needed to be successful in our setting, and to assist them in achieving their Individual Education Plan (IEP) Goals so they can possibly transition to a less structured setting when appropriate. Many students develop a strong rapport with their individual therapists who also serve as clinical team leaders, helping ensure the students' social and emotional needs are addressed throughout the program.
