DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., February 1, 2019 – On Jan. 31, AdventHealth Daytona Beach celebrated the grand opening of the new 32-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, AdventHealth’s only inpatient rehabilitation unit within Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties.

Specializing in stroke and neuro patients, as well as those with hip fractures, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and medical management issues, the new unit has a very special and unique feature: one of the longest ceiling track lift systems in the nation. With more than a half mile of a fully connected ceiling track throughout the rooms, hallway and into the dining area, the new lift system allows nursing and therapy staff to safely assist patients out of bed and help them begin walking.

“We are genuinely excited about our new track system in our brand new inpatient rehab unit. It’s truly state-of-the-art,” said Kristen Hanak, AdventHealth Daytona Beach executive director of rehabilitation services. “Our priority is to keep our patients and our employees safe. Our new track system helps patients reach their highest level of potential, while at the same time reducing their risk of falling as they work to regain their mobility.”

Located on the 12th floor of AdventHealth Daytona Beach, at 301 Memorial Medical Pkwy., Daytona Beach, this new unit represents a $13.8 million investment in the community’s healthcare services.

All of the rooms in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at AdventHealth Daytona Beach are private and have windows with views of either the Atlantic Ocean or Daytona International Speedway. In addition, the new location has four bariatric rooms with larger entryways and bathrooms for obese patients.

There is also a hydraulic car that adjusts to the exact height of the patient’s personal car so patients can practice the movement necessary to get in and out of their vehicle safely.

With the opening of this new unit, AdventHealth Daytona Beach has grown to a 359-bed facility.
