(Dade City, Florida, May 3, 2019)….. AdventHealth Dade City has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery acknowledges the hospital's commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and safety efforts for patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

The MBSAQIP® Standards, ensures that bariatric surgical patients receive a multidisciplinary program, not just a surgical procedure, which improves patient outcomes and long-term success. The commitment to quality care begins with appropriately trained staff and surgeon leaders who participate in meetings throughout the year to review its outcomes. They seek continuous improvement to enhance the structure, process and outcomes at AdventHealth Dade City.

“AdventHealth Dade City is dedicated to providing a comprehensive program that truly helps patients begin their journeys to healthier lives,” says Naga Thatimatla, MD, Medical Director of Surgery at AdventHealth Dade City. “MBSAQIP® is an important distinction that tells patients seeking information about bariatric surgery that AdventHealth Dade City meets the highest standards for patient safety and quality.”

AdventHealth Dade City offers a comprehensive approach to the treatment and care of obese patients, before and after the surgery. Patients are offered a team approach from the experts at AdventHealth Dade City. Bariatric surgery is a life-changing decision that can provide numerous health benefits for patients including improvement of diabetes, hypertension, arthritis and cardiovascular disease. The multidisciplinary team helps patients overcome any roadblocks in their journey to develop an active and healthy lifestyle.

To earn the MBSAQIP® designation, AdventHealth Dade City met essential criteria for staffing, training and facility infrastructure and protocols for care, ensuring its ability to support patients with severe obesity. The center also participates in a national data registry that yields semiannual reports on the quality of its processes and outcomes, identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
