Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic and guard Elfrid Payton surprised AdventHealth for Children patients this afternoon with games and teddy bears with hand-written messages of hope, happiness and healing.
They were joined by Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, who are both Orlando Magic Community Ambassadors, as well as members of the Orlando Magic dance team. The special guests played board games, posed for pictures and handed out autographed mini basketballs.
The kids, they’re obviously going through some stuff and I think for us to be in the position we're in to help put a smile on their faces making their day means a lot to all of us, said Vucevic.
The special teddy bears parachuted from the rafters at last nights game against the Charlotte Hornets. Each teddy bear included a note that asked fans to write an inspiring message to a patient at AdventHealth for Children. Players also wrote personal messages.
So much about healing is about feeling positive and being happy, said Meagan Krizek, the hospitals Volunteer Manager. So when Orlando Magic players take the time to come to AdventHealth for Children and spend an afternoon playing games, its truly an amazing thing that means so much for our patients health and spirits.
