Understanding Hospice Care

Across the Greater Chicago area, our AdventHealth St. Thomas Hospice, formerly AMITA Health Adventist St. Thomas Hospice, team goes directly to your loved one and family to offer emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and physical support. We also teach and empower you on how to meet your loved one’s ever-evolving needs. At every step, we’re here to support you and your whole family.

Volunteers Are the Heart of Hospice Care

Our volunteers are known as “the heart of hospice care.” They go through extensive training, so that they can care for your loved one and your family with strength and compassion.

Depending on the volunteer’s skills, they may work directly with your loved one and family, support office staff, lend their talents to special projects or participate in bereavement services.

Volunteers who engage with your loved one take the time to get to know them, so their hospice care can be as meaningful as possible.
