Peggy's Miracle: A Story of Hope and Healing of the Heart
Peggy, a longtime Lake Placid resident and AdventHealth Lake Placid Foundation board member, arrived to the hospital critically ill this spring – unable to walk and dependent on a wheelchair. Her heart function had dropped to dangerous levels.
Over multiple transfers and weeks of therapy across AdventHealth Lake Placid, Sebring and Wauchula, Peggy received expert, compassionate care. Nurses anticipated her needs, transport teams moved her smoothly and therapists supported her every step. Small acts made a big impact: warm blankets, bedside prayers, birthday surprises and sta who treated her like family. She even played piano during recovery. A month later, her cardiologist declared her heart function fully restored – a recovery Peggy calls nothing less than miraculous.
Feeling whole – body, mind and spirit. Whether it is a life saved or a life just getting started, your generosity brings hope to light. As a faith-based nonprofit health system, 100% of your donation to the AdventHealth Heartland Foundations goes directly to ensuring patients receive world-class care when it matters most.
