For Physicians Health Care

Volunteer of the Month | Dr. Nathalie McKenzie

Dr. Nathalie McKenzie is triple board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology and lifestyle medicine. A cancer survivor herself, she provides compassionate, holistic, integrative and state of the art medical care.

She was originally awarded Volunteer of the Month in November 2020, for cofounding the HEAL at Home series with Dr. Amber Orman to bring the benefits of the in person HEAL program to patients and our community safely through a virtual platform. She is now recognized as the Volunteer of the month for July 2023, for her continued service to cancer patients across Central Florida.

She is especially known for her expertise in radical debulking surgeries to remove advanced tumors and has a passion for cancer research. She has tremendous expertise and experience providing advanced surgical treatments including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures for women with all types of gynecologic cancers.

“I am truly honored to also be a physician —a gynecologic oncologist —this is the only field of oncology in the world whereby we are both cancer surgeons and provide anti-tumor treatments like chemo and immunotherapy, all in one practice.”

Dr. McKenzie recently joined a patient and friend, Mai Linh, in a fundraising event on May 30, called Racing for Cancer Research through Adventhealth’s Play it Forward program. Proceeds from this event went directly to supporting cancer research to improve the quality of life for patients like Mai Linh and ultimately discover a cure.

In addition to teaching and research, Dr. McKenzie also sits on numerous boards for charity organizations including AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida. Dr. McKenzie has championed fundraising efforts to launch AdventHealth’s first integrative oncology program – HEAL: Gynecologic Cancer, of which she is the founder and a lead donor and the Co-Founder of the Cancer Institute’s HEAL Program.

HEAL incorporates the six pillars of lifestyle medicine into an 8-week intensive course to provide survivorship education and support optimal health after a cancer diagnosis. These services are made possible by philanthropic support.

“As a Foundation board member, I have the opportunity to help raise funding for life saving strategies for our patients.”

AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida cherishes the relationship we have with Dr. McKenzie.
