The holiday season can be especially stressful when you are grieving the death of someone dear to you. Holidays are also a reminder that time is passing – another holiday, another year has gone by. The holidays are a time to be with people you love the most. How can you be expected to celebrate togetherness when someone is missing?
Make a gift to support bereavement care at Hospice of the Comforter.
Ways to Show Love for Someone You Lost
Candles
Light a candle in honor of a deceased loved one. It’s a beautiful way to include them in your traditions. You could read a poem, or say a few words in memory of the one you have lost.
Ornament
Remember your loved one with a special ornament that hangs on a Christmas tree, or another place in your home. Choose an ornament that best represents the person you love. Some ideas are, an ornament with their name, a custom photo ornament, a favorite sports team or an angel.
Christmas Stocking
If you celebrate Christmas by hanging a stocking, include your loved one’s stocking. Instead of gifts, fill the stocking with notes and stories from your family about the person you love.
Honor Your Loved One’s Memory
For every person who receives Hospice of the Comforter care, there are hundreds of compassionate people dedicated to helping. And because of your gift to Hospice, you are one of our most generous helpers! Thank you so very much.
Before this year draws to a close, you can extend again a caring hand with a year-end gift. Your gift will provide nursing care, in-home care, in-patient care and 13 months of bereavement care. This includes a “Coping with the Holidays” workshop before the holiday.
During this beautiful time of the year, making a memorial gift in honor of your loved one can bring hope for the future. Next year, we’ll update you on the ways your gift is working for Hospice patients and their families.
Wishing you peace, joy and happy memories this holiday.
