William F Hartsell, MD

Dr. Hartsell is the president of Radiation Oncology Consultants, Ltd. He is the Medical Director and primarily practices at the CDH Proton Center, A ProCure Center. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology. After completing his training, Dr. Hartsell was an Assistant Professor at Rush-Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago for 6 years. He was director of the residency program for 3 years. He was then an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, where he was Clinical Director of the adult Radiation Oncology program. He has been in private practice with Radiation Oncology Consultants, Ltd. since 1997.

Dr. Hartsell has expertise in the use of conformal 3-D therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery, high dose rate brachytherapy, and proton therapy. He has directed a number of national studies, published and presented numerous papers and given local and national lectures on various topics regarding cancer treatment, including many papers on breast cancer, brain tumors, prostate cancer, head & neck cancer, Hodgkin's disease and palliative care.

Dr. Hartsell is happily married and has four children.

When asked why he chose Radiation Oncology, he states, "I was interested in another field during medical school, but when I saw the positive effect radiation therapy had on a patient's quality of life, I knew this was the specialty for me. I love the rapidly changing technologic advances and how they improve patient care."
